Pizza might just be the perfect food. Not only does it taste great, but it’s about as portable as it gets. For nights you don’t feel like cooking or a great snack after a night out, pizza has always been there for you. Miami has its share of great pizzerias, offering up everything from the traditional slice to ones piled on with unique ingredients.
Harry’s Pizzeria
Nestled in the Miami Design District, Harry's opened up in 2011 by Chef Michael Schwartz, the same genius behind Michael’s Genuine. The chef brings a menu of pizzas for the adventurous, including toppings such as oyster mushroom, braised fennel, slow-roasted pork, short rib, and all the works. Be sure to also check out the chef’s newly created brew, Michael’s Genuine Home Brew. 3918 N. Miami Ave. in Miami, 786.275.4963
Spris
This Miami franchise has a few locations, but we have to say our favorite is on Lincoln Road, perfect for grabbing a quick lunch while people watching or shopping the strip. On the menu at Spris, are more than a dozen different pies inspired by Italian ingredients, with your choice or red sauce or white pizzas. Go traditional with a margherita or Hawaiian, or try a slice topped with copious amounts of prosciutto, mushrooms, ricotta, Italian sausage, scamorza cheese, truffle oil, and other delicious items. 721 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, 305.673.2020
Lucali
American pizza was born in New York City, and this restaurant’s sister location is in Brooklyn and that can only mean good things. Lucali cooks up its pies in a brick oven with your choice of nine toppings, including portabella mushrooms, peppers, all-beef pepperoni, and artichoke hearts. The place is also known for their delicious calzones and for having dessert pizzas. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, try out the Nutella-drenched pizza option. 1930 Bay Road in Miami Beach, 305.695.4441
Andiamo
Taking its cue from Italian American pizzerias up in the northeast, Andiamo is a relaxed spot in a Miami world full of upscale. On the menu are more than two dozens pizzas ranging from the traditional to more creative toppings, such as eggplant and BBQ chicken, or go crazy and create your own. Even better, the prices are low for 10-inch to 16-inch pies. If for some reason you’re not in the mood for a pizza, they also offer Philly cheesesteaks, panini and meatballs. 5600 Biscayne Blvd. in Miami, 305.762.5751
Steve’s
A true neighborhood spot, families and late night guests have been flocking to this small, affordable restaurant on Biscayne for years now -- something made very clear with all the writing on the walls. Get a slice served up on a paper plate (how else would you eat it?) or order an entire pizza for the gang outside or sit inside in the cozy booths, only at Steve's. 12101 Biscayne Blvd. in North Miami, 305.891.0202
