Staying on track with a fitness regimen while traveling can be challenging. But with hotels and local gyms catering to fitness travelers more and more, there’s no excuse nowadays not to maintain the same health and wellness routine from home. From full-service gyms to rooftop yoga sessions and indoor cycling workouts, here are the places to break a sweat.

Yoga

When it comes to mindfulness and washing away the stress of life away after a day filled with sightseeing or partying, outdoor yoga tops the list of must-do activities. Whether on the sand or atop a rooftop deck with glorious ocean views, these hotels and local spots offer some of the most beautiful spaces to relax, breathe and namaste.

The Standard Hotel has built a brand as the go-to yoga haven. From sunrise yoga and water-immersed yoga (H2-Om) to yoga meditation and daily classes, The Standard Spa’s Yoga and Fitness Program has a class for everyone–beginners to expert practitioners.

Over in South Beach, the boutique hotel The Betsy offers hotel guests sunrise yoga four mornings a week and a slew of Vinyasa flow classes from acclaimed instructors of the 3rd Street Beach Yoga studio. Downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park, Miami’s Design District and Coconut Grove's Peacock Park or Mayfair Hotel also host free yoga classes several times a month.

Barre

With a mission for producing long, lean sculpted bodies, this ballet-inspired workout has become all the rage across the country. Promising to deliver results with low-intensity training, it's easy to do at-home or on the road. No equipment is required for barre and it can easily be done in between catching rays at the beach or inside a the hotel room.

If you happen to stay at the Kimpton EPIC, besides housing an award-winning spa and yoga studio on the premises, Exhale Spa features a state-of-the-art gym and boutique fitness studio with a mix of barre, cardio and high intensity core fusion classes.

Other top-notch local barre studios around Miami include Pure Barre in Coral Gables and the Bar Method in South Miami.

Indoor Cycling

Beyond yoga and barre, hotels and resorts are targeting adrenaline junkies with spin classes and studios. The country’s top cycling studio, SoulCycle, recently opened at 1 Hotel South Beach offering 45-minute classes set to heart stopping music for that perfect sweat-drenching session. The first class is only $20 for hotel guests or locals.

At Flywheel Sports, SoulCycle’s main competitor, the first spin class is free. And if you want to boast about your cycling prowess, you can opt to follow your progress on the techie leaderboard.

For a taste of Miami flair, try Miami-based RedBike Studios where riders cycle weekly to an all-Latin RumbaRide synchronized to bass-pumping beats that might make you think you’re still out dancing on South Beach. With convenient locations in Downtown Miami’s Brickell neighborhood and Aventura, the best part is that the first class is also free.
