From the #OscarsSoWhite movement to growing support for inclusion riders, it seems Hollywood is more seriously grappling with its lack of diversity.
But for 20 years, the ABFF, the largest industry event of its kind, has been spotlighting film and TV work that reflects the talent and experiences of Black entertainers, executives and other storytellers. Enjoy master classes by industry vets, movie screenings, special talks led by industry insiders and celebrities, and fun networking events.
Here's a selection to watch out for during the 2018 event:
Without a Net: The Digital Divide in America, Presented by Verizon
Without A Net is short film exploring the disparity of access to technology and the effect it has on public school students. Immediately following this screening, Mimi Valdés and Jesse Williams will discuss career prospects for African Americans in the tech field with proper training and access.
