There’s always an underlying competition between Broward and Dade, and on April 17th, the battlefield will be in the kitchen.
Top chefs from both counties will be participating in Delish 2015 to raise money for ARC Broward, and only one county can win. They’ll lead students from the nonprofit’s Culinary Institute to put together their finest dishes to be judged by Chef Carla Pellegrino, executive chef of Touche and staff of “Top Chef,” and three food writers -- including yours truly. Lisa Pestrillo of CBS Miami’s “Taste of the Town” will be hosting the evening. In the end, the judges will crown a “Best Overall” and “Bloggers Choice” to the winning county.
So what’s it all for? ARC Broward has served South Florida for since 1956 by helping those with developmental disabilities learn key employment skills, including learning how to work the kitchen at the nonprofit’s Culinary Institute’s 16-week certificate program. Proceeds from the event will go to the institute.
At Delish 2015, students will be guided by a group of award-winning chefs from both counties:
-Giorgio Rapicavoli of Eating House
-Chef Louie Bossi of Louie Bossi’s Ristorante
-Adrienne Grenier of 3030 Ocean
-Chef Philip Darmon of Hardy Park Bistro
-Chef Andres Marin of the ARC Broward Culinary Institute
-Chef Sebastian Heil of Tower Club Fort Lauderdale
-Chef Tom Azar of Lauderdale Yacht Club
-Chef Robyn Almodovar, contestant on “Hell’s Kitchen”
-Chef Nuno Grullon, contestant on “Best New Restaurant”
Watch the cooks and chefs duke it out in the kitchen youself! Not only will there be fantastic food, Stoli Vodka will be mixing up cocktails, the dance floor will be run by live entertainment, and lots of great items at the silent auction.
Delish 2015 is April 17th at 7 pm, Tickets are $150 to $200.
