Meet A Local: Anita Funtek

When you take on a city as ever-changing as Miami, “Innovative” has to be a word that describes all that you are- Anita Funtek is just this person.  CEO of Miami New Construction Show, Anita is the masterful strategist for this annual event that brings together both ideas and realities for the future of South Florida’s real estate. Last year’s first annual Miami New Construction Show (MNCS) featured 115 exhibitors and attracted 15,000 visitors while generating over $125 million in industry sales within the three days the show went on. The 2015 MNCS is set to topple those numbers and set the bar higher than ever before.

 A native of Hungary with almost 20 years of finance and real estate experience, she came to the United States in 2011 and began work on establishing the MNCS as the first ever buyers-direct real estate forum in South Florida. Although the weather, food and style is an alluring reality to this area, it was the property market of South Florida that had Anita hooked.

 Recently, Mrs. Funtek won an award for “Most Innovative Method of Marketing” at the 2015 Better Beach Awards hosted by The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce at The Loews recognizing the best in sustainability, architecture, design, marketing, restoration and preservation. This award only solidified thoughts buzzing around the pre-award ceremony that Anita Funtek would be one of the key faces of influential and trendsetting leaders in the local real estate industry. (She’s also a huge fan of Where South Florida!)

Where South Florida pressed pause on Anita’s busy schedule and got to ask the questions we’ve all been dying to know:

What do you love about living here?

“[What] I love about Miami that it is a melting pot and I also love the Latin temper. It is great too, you know that you don’t have to be embarrassed if you don’t speak the language, here no one speaks the language and everyone has an accent. (laughter)”

What would be a perfect day in Miami?

"In Miami, every day is the perfect one. [Like} Jogging with the sunrise because the weather is always the nicest all the time, and spending the day with my family going kayaking or something in the sun. In the evening I always love to sit by the intercostal, next to the water and enjoy some Latin music with my husband…and maybe a little dancing too.”

Anita may be all smiles now, but when she’s not taking a breather or jogging alongside the Florida sunrise- she’s all business.
